CG & Live Action Intergration
| Sci-Fi Robotics Workshop

I developed a sci-fi–inspired mechanic’s workshop using Blender and DaVinci Resolve. By reconstructing motion trackers, I created and aligned geometry to build an immersive workshop populated with carefully designed displays and precisely placed VFX props, highlighting the unfinished robot at its center.

To further maximise the realism of the scene, manual shadow placement and accurate colour rendering were transpired through shadow catchers and use of the Macbeth Chart.

Software

Blender LTS 4.5

I imported RAW Blackmagic footage into Blender and utilized the motion tracking workspace to track camera movement and accurately position kit-bashed props within the scene.

DaVinci Resolve Studio v20

Finalised the track in DaVinci colour workspace to accuately grade the footage to appear an eerie

Challenges

Lighting & Compositing

Accurately matching lighting between real footage and robotic assets, creating realistic shadows and reflections using shadow catchers.

Colour Grading

Finalising in DaVinci Resolve to establish the tone and aesthetic of the shot through colour grading, enhancing mood, consistency, and visual cohesion across the sequence.
